Description

The project begins with a simple, almost ritual gesture: collecting, storing and reusing vine shoots, the branches pruned in winter to prepare for the new season. Sourced from nearby wineries, these bundles of wood, normally burned or abandoned, are transformed into construction material. The intervention thus reclaims a local and ephemeral resource, granting it a second life in the public space.

The installation is located in Plaza del Revellín, at the entrance to Logroño’s old town, where it builds a theatrical backdrop in dialogue with the city wall and the surrounding houses. More than 1,200 bundles of vine shoots are arranged in a curved form, natural and geometric at once, creating a vibrant, tactile and habitable space. The structure contains a resting area, a small elevated lookout towards the street, and a collective table located between two lines of benches.

From the windows overlooking the square, neighbors and visitors can join this shared scene, configuring a sort of human arena suspended above street level: a contemporary convivium. The vine shoots are interwoven into a wooden structure 16 meters long and more than 4 meters high, organized into 14 vertical modules joined by horizontal reinforcements.

Stacked together, they allow light to pass through and project changing shadows, offering shade and shelter inside. The square thus recovers its performative character through a new collective ritual.
