The program required the optimization of a 50 m² commercial unit belonging to a 1940 building for a variety of simultaneous uses. The intervention is based on maximum refinement together with the incorporation of custom-made furniture elements that relate to one another. The geometric adaptation of the pieces produces a relationship of synergies that allows different spatial configurations around a pillar.

A structural intervention was required due to poor previous solutions: two hidden metal columns appeared that had no continuity with the adjacent floors and supported a poorly executed closure of an existing opening in the upper slab. For functional reasons and out of consideration for the building itself, a solution of technical cleanup and spatial release was carried out, leaving the structure repaired and the new beam integrated.

Original mid-20th-century elements that appeared after demolition were recovered and integrated with new project elements in a contemporary key, as was the unit’s full ceiling height. Environmental impact is reduced through recycling and reuse of these forgotten elements, restoring the essence of the place and fostering its cultural rootedness. The dialogue between new and old is achieved through respect for what pre-exists and consideration for the space, improving its habitability through total use and granting full flexibility to a now open-plan unit. The composition is completed by integrating the use of the corporate color in a precise way in different elements so as to unify the language of the proposal.
