Description

The project for the flower shop Orangerie Marvila was determined by two main constraints: a very short execution time and a limited budget, especially with regard to the construction process rather than the cost of materials. Based on these restrictions, a solution was proposed that would resolve the entire program through the smallest possible number of operations and pieces.

The commission included a table for wet work, a table for dry work, a concealed storage system and display shelving. All of this was resolved using two standard sheets of galvanized steel, laser-cut and subsequently folded. Laser cutting made it possible to design a layout that used 100% of the sheet surface, organizing the pieces as if they were a puzzle.

The folds in the steel serve a double function: on the one hand, they generate the final geometry of the different elements; on the other, they provide the structural rigidity required for the pieces to stand without additional reinforcements. In this way, the system only requires a few fixing bolts directly anchored to the wall.

Storage remains concealed behind a cream-colored fabric screen that introduces a textile and lightweight element into the metallic ensemble. The anchoring points are not hidden, but emphasized through white spheres that act as visible end caps.

The project was designed and fabricated in approximately one month in Seville and later transported and installed in Lisbon, where assembly was completed in only 48 hours.
